"It must be a decade now since I first met John. Through the years I’ve learned that we have the same strange way of organising our lives and work – a way that other people might not consider organisation at all. First things first, though in a seemingly illogical and often immovable order.
I find a lot of John’s paintings characteristic in that respect. Using a technique where squared fields of colour cleverly unite to make a whole, John brings order to his canvas in his very own perspective. Colours react and patterns begin to emerge ... and it’s beautiful.
The subject matter reflects both John’s English background and Swedish daily surroundings, and conveys his passion for architecture and nature. Through it all John masters the art of finding perfection in the incomplete, and leaves space for the mind of the observer. His every painting urges you to take another look.
I have no idea how he does it ... but I like it."

| John's background is in architecture and he has spent many years working as both designer and illustrator. In his paintings, John explores landscape through its patterns and textures, attempting to trigger a memory or a sense of place and ignoring conventional rules of perspective along the way. |
